The
Superintendent will report directly to the
Project Manager and be responsible for overseeing the construction process, including overall construction activities that are within the established design, budget and scheduling guidelines.

This can include planning and scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling activities on the construction site.


We are currently seeking a Superintendent for our "Somenos View" project in Duncan on Vancouver Island, BC to start in Spring 2024.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in pre, during and post phases of construction projects.
  • Review plans, specs, subtrade contracts (scope of work), and become familiar with overall project, systems & details.
  • Manage controllable cost(s) that are under the direct control of the Superintendent.
  • Coordinate and track material/equipment deliveries, scheduling of subtrades, and Tri City personnel to meet prearranged schedule.
  • Coordinate and track inspections, including required testing. Ensure that subtrades do likewise.
  • Perform detailed takeoff of work areas for purposes of tender, project planning, ordering of materials and identification of labor needs on site.
  • Provide instruction and direction to subcontractors and inhouse Tri City personnel in all aspects relating to the project.
  • Hold weekly subcontractor meetings which also includes safety meetings.
  • Participate in any meetings involving subcontractors, consultant or ownership.
  • In charge of and responsible for coordinating Tri City's in house crew on site. Size and type of crew will vary depending upon project size.
  • Maintain appropriate filing system onsite.
  • Set the ultimate example regarding Personal Protective Equipment and ethical conduct regarding health and safety while on the job site.
  • Be familiar with and ensure that Tri City's Health and Safety Program which includes Site Rules on site with subcontractors and Tri City inhouse crew are being implemented and followed properly.
  • Be the onsite liaison for WorkSafe BC when visiting the project.
  • Address any safety or general workplace grievances onsite.
  • Coordinate and complete Tri City's Quality Control plan and program throughout the various steps of the project to ensure that Tri City maintains a certain standard for quality of work on site.
  • Keep consistent communication with Project Manager to ensure both parties are on the same page.

Qualifications:


  • Trade background in carpentry preferred. (Red Seal Certification Required).
  • Knowledge in relation to the different construction disciplines.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in the industry preferred.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, and industrial.
  • Knowledge of BC Building Code.
  • Effective supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities to ensure consistent completion of projects ontime, on budget and to the clients' satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated leadership, field management and problemsolving skills to support your collaborative approach to delivering results and developing team members.
  • Service and resultsoriented, you are able to build and steward trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors, and team members to promote competitive excellence, pride in teamwork and outstanding project delivery.
  • You have demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
  • Proactive problemsolver that can manage difficult situations with positive results.
  • Sound knowledge of construction, building techniques, and ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with construction related software and platforms considered an asset.
  • Must maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
