Position


As the largest Speech-Language Pathology department in Canada, the University of Alberta MScSLP program offers students a wide variety of academic and clinical experiences supported by an extensive network of dedicated academic and clinical educators and preceptors.

The program is now expanding to a new satellite site at the UofA Augustana Campus in Camrose commencing in the fall of 2024.

The MScSLP Satellite program will be one of three professional programs (including MScOT and MScPT) in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine that will be part of the Augustana campus.


Duties


In addition to teaching, Teaching Professors are expected to participate in initiatives related to the scholarship of teaching & learning (SoTL) research, to promote scholarship initiatives, and to engage in service activities within the Department and the broader academic and clinical community.

Based in Camrose, Alberta, the positions on offer comprise teaching and teaching-related responsibilities, as well as a teaching-related service component, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Primary or Co-Instructor and/or Coordinator for assigned MScSLP courses;
  • Student advisor for the Augustana MScSLP students (16 students per cohort);
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across the Edmonton and Augustana program sites, as well as with the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy programs, to ensure equitable quality learning experiences for all students;
  • Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of the MScSLP program across sites;
  • Participate in Department of CSD and Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine Committees as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Master's or a PhD/Clinical Doctorate or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of speechlanguage pathology experience in a variety of practice and/or academic settings.
  • Experience teaching in an academic setting
  • Leadership experience in clinical practice settings
  • A demonstrated history of, or commitment to, continuous quality improvement/ engagement in professional teaching development activities, ideally related to teaching and learning
  • Experience in clinical education coordination or student supervision/mentorship
  • Capability to oversee research or scholarly capstone projects
  • Familiarity and comfort with using distance/remote learning technology
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including conflict management skills

Additional Information and Application Instructions:


  • Registration with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) is required by the start date.
  • Compensation will be in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement and commensurate with experience.
