12-Month Project (Term position)


This is an exciting opportunity for an inquisitive
Quality Control Technician that wants to be part of an _enterprise research project_ team focused on identifying key factors that are contributing to specific quality and microbiological parameters of our raw materials and processes that affect the final quality of our ingredients.


Key areas of focus for the project:

Quality Control & Laboratory Operations

  • Perform all chemical, physical, and organoleptic tests in the scope of testing.
  • Trending of analytical data
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventories, including spare parts for all laboratory equipment. Collaborate with procurement on ordering materials in a timely manner.
  • Perform environmental swabbing and water sample collecting.
  • Assist in process/product/assay validation protocols, testing, planning, performing and reporting.
  • Perform the qualification, calibration and maintenance of equipment and instruments in the laboratory.
  • Organize and maintain a shelflife library for powder samples based on prescribed sample holding times.
  • Contribute to the writing, review, and completion of standard operating procedures and other document control documents.
  • Participate actively in cleaning and sanitation.

Data Entry and Analysis

  • Data entry into Navision (both the microbiological and analytical results) for trending, and QA review
  • Identify and report outofspecification results to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor results daily in LIMS for completion and outofspecification results.

What we need from you:


  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent, with a concentration in Chemistry/Microbiology and two years of experience; or
  • Experience with analytical and microbiological procedures related to foods preferred.
  • Capability to work in a team environment with varied departments and diverse personalities.
  • Great time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • You have high regard for details and have the ability to recognize patterns, and cause and effect relationships and can find the needle in the haystack.
  • Positive outlook with good oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in quality control related to food products, testing, and implementation of new approaches in analysis.
  • Curious and aware of new and emerging methods in quality control and laboratory testing equipment
