About the Role

At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we've been helping people in crisis since 1928.

As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives.

Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centered care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens.

Working within the mission, vision, values, and person-centered philosophy of the Agency, the Accounting Coordinator supports the accounting requirements of both FSEAP and the Finance Department by playing a critical role through regular accounting tasks and special projects.

This role will be reporting to both the Director

  • FSEAP, as well as the Associate Director
  • Finance, working closely with these two divisions. It actively supports the Agency's awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

Work Hours: 28 hours/week (Monday - Friday; but can be flexible).


Salary:
GS8 Step 1 $26.06/ hour


Location: 1638 East Broadway with the possibility of working

What you bring:

  • Perform monthly billings including creating and sending of invoices, providing account statements and collections for the FSEAP program
  • Administer accounts receivable account, including recording payments received in QuickBooks and following up on late payments
  • Manage program payables, submit invoices received for authorization and payment, and track status
  • Perform bank and other FSEAP balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare financial, program metrics, and demographic reports and support the team to ensure all monthly deadlines are met
  • Support in backup of Accounts Payable and other team members as needed and on special projects
  • Perform administrative and other duties as required

Education, Training, Experience

  • Certificate or diploma in accounting, with 2 years of recent, related experience
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of and experience with accounting and reporting in the notforprofit and forprofit sectors is ideal
  • Strong computer literacy in MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with QuickBooks (Online); experience with Adagio is an asset
  • Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to embrace and foster continuous improvement in the department

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of criminal record check
  • Proof of Covid19 vaccination status will be required
