The Role
Our Health and Safety Coordinator plans and coordinates various administrative Health and Safety efforts of Bronte Construction projects.

Health and Safety Coordinator are engaged from the start to finish of each project, participating in job site audits, facilitating various training requirements, orientations and investigations.

The Health and Safety Coordinator work under the guidance and mentorship of the Health and Safety Manager.

A day in the life

  • Plan and coordinate the administration of the OH&S training to satisfy 'competent persons' under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and policies
  • Assist in Investigation of all accidents and ensure all paperwork is completed in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including the initial filing of Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Form
  • Assist in monitoring OH&S compliance by conducting regular workplace inspections and audits
  • Complete all necessary reporting required pursuant to OH&S and WSIB legislation and regulations
  • Assist management and the management safety team in the investigation of accidents and near misses, identify root causes and trends and recommend accident prevention methods.
  • Assist on matters relating to injured worker claims and restricted work programs
  • Attend Joint OH&S committee meetings, provide technical support to Co-Chairs and committee as required and assist to resolve any issues
  • Coordinate all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and update all hazardous materials records and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Assist in the organization of annual "safety day" for all staff
  • Assist in the assessment of OH&S training needs for union and nonunion staff; design and/or acquire suitable/specific programs; and arrange/provide the training
  • Collect and record in the appropriate database all OH&S documentation, including accident and training records
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of OHS statistics and prepare reports and presentations as required
  • Assist in response to incidents or a request for an assessment, which may lead to recommendations for remedial action and necessary followup
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards in the area of health and safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • 35 years of Health and Safety Field Experience in Construction
  • NCSO Certified preferred
  • JHSC certified, COR Auditor, COR Essentials and Hazard Recognition an asset
  • Must have WAH and First Aid, Basics of Supervision and a clean drivers abstract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Software Suite, Site Doc, and various other workplace technology
  • Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Technical writing and analytical skills
  • Must be able to regularly travel throughout the province of Ontario.
