Our Toronto or Montréal office is looking for a Bilingual Communications Specialist for the Arup Americas' communications team who will be an essential communications liaison to all Canadian offices.


Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Serve as the key point of contact and strategic counsel in Canada on all communications-related activities.
  • Collaborate with local Canada office leaders, communications and marketing colleagues, business leaders, and technical teams to develop, manage, and implement comprehensive integrated PR and communications plans aligned with our strategy (internal and external) and build and guard reputation and brand.
  • Participate in team meetings with experts to identify important internal and external engagement opportunities and execute them.
  • Set up and coordinate PR opportunities, including pitching experts and projects to target markets and media. Maintain relationships with essential Canada media and influencers; communicate with press as required.
  • Initiate and guide discussions to develop campaigns that tell our stories across a variety of channels and use the latest communications best practices and tools.
  • Partner with other communications experts on our team to create strategic and compelling content/stories, narratives, and presentations in a variety of formats.
  • Understand dynamics of business and the sector in which it operates, leveraging understanding to identify new communications opportunities. Passion for delivering industry defining and marketfacing campaigns.
  • Learn, grow, and contribute to a highperforming team.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual a must (speak, read, write)
  • English and French
  • Minimum 5 years of external communications experience, preferably with at least 1 year leading and strategizing projects
  • Combination of both inhouse and (PR/marketing) agency and corporate communications background or a variety of AEC business, innovation and impact domains preferred.
  • Experience in external communications, public relations and digital tactics to create integrated PR campaigns; ability to think strategically, building and implementing plans that drive results.
  • Ideally, brings media relationships across Canada.
  • Superior organization and project management skills with ability to drive, develop and implement multiple communications strategies/programs in partnership with experts, concurrently without daytoday oversight and engagement.
  • Exceptional communicator, professionalism, interpersonal skills and client relationship management experience; ability to influence and build partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Proactive selfstarter with an ability to uncover and develop stories and content for internal and external use.
  • Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Marketing or related field. Passion for corporate communications, sustainable development, social impact, and digital innovation.
  • Motivated to make a difference with a highly collaborative team.
