- Attending pre-consultation meetings and providing engineering input on proposals, including coordinating engineering comments.
- Reviewing design drawings and inspecting construction sites to ensure compliance with municipal standards, legislation, and public safety requirements.
- Providing feedback on present and future infrastructure requirements and standards for the Municipality.
- Reviewing and commenting on designs for civil engineering projects including sanitary and storm sewers, water mains, pumping stations, pavements, curbs, gutters, and drainage work.
- Preparing cost estimates, project schedules, specifications, reports, and contract documentation for tendering and procurement.
- Maintaining condition assessments and infrastructure management studies for roads, sidewalks, bridges, traffic signals, sewers, water mains, and railway crossings.
- Providing technical information and advice to external consultants, utility companies, developers, ratepayers, and municipal staff.
- Coordinating and chairing utility committee meetings and liaising with government agencies, neighboring municipalities, and local organizations.
- Conducting field construction inspections, monitoring projects, preparing payment certificates, and ensuring quality control and compliance with contracts and engineering agreements.
- Investigating and responding to public complaints regarding traffic, traffic control, and roadside parking concerns.
- Supporting the preparation of policies, by-laws, and committee/council reports, including technical assessments, investigations, analyses, and recommendations.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent, with CET designation and membership in good standing with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
- 3+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure and development engineering.
- Experience with ESRI and AutoCAD software, project management tools, technical report preparation, and customer service.
- Strong knowledge of municipal engineering design guidelines, Ontario Provincial Standards, and building and construction principles.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Environmental Assessment Act, Highway Traffic Act, Drainage Act, Public Transportation Highway Improvement Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and WHMIS.
- Able to establish professional relationships, network effectively, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

Engineering Technologist II – Development (3-Year Contract) – Municipality of Lakeshore. This contract position supports the growth and development of the Lakeshore region, reporting to the Team Leader – Development Engineering and Approvals. The role involves overseeing and coordinating engineering projects, assisting with technical assessments and traffic studies, preparing designs, drawings, cost estimates, and contract documents, providing technical support and inspections, and reviewing engineering submissions to ensure compliance with municipal standards and best practices.
The Municipality of Lakeshore is a growing community with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades supported by a CHIF grant. This is a contract position for up to 3 years, located in Lakeshore, Ontario.
