Position Title:
Kinesiologist

Status:
Sub-contracted position for community program dedicated to improving mobility and strength in aging adults and adult physical rehabilitation.

Hours:
approximately 3-4 hours per day, 2 mornings per week. (6-8 hours per week total)

Position Summary
Kinesiologist needed for aging adult and rehabilitation adult exercise program.

The kinesiologist will work with seniors and adults recovering from injury or surgery to help build or maintain strength, mobility, and flexibility.

This program is run by PrimaCare Community Family Health Team in conjunction with the kinesiologist.

The kinesiologist is not an employee of the family health team but would be subcontracted by us to run and maintain the program with our assistance.

Responsibilities:

Generic and/or Specific:

Set up and take down exercise equipment used for personal exercise programs.
Instruct group in warm up and cool down exercises.
Develop and progress individualized exercise programs for participants tailored to individual needs, considering medical conditions and limitations.
Educate participants on proper exercise techniques and injury prevention.
Oversee group participants completing individualized stretching and strengthening programs to ensure safe and proper technique and appropriate advancement.
Collection of funds by participants for monthly fees.

Education, Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or related field.
Certification from a recognized professional association (eg. ACSM, NCSA, CSEP)
Experience with aging adults and rehabilitation programming.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Ability to work independently for extended periods of time.
Commitment to clientcentered care.
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work autonomously utilizing critical thinking skills and advanced decisionmaking, problem recognition and problem solving skills.

Demands and Working Conditions

Physical/Mental Demand Include:

Significant lifting, pulling, pushing, stretching or physical exertion.
Walking, standing, sitting.
Upper limb coordination and strength required.
