The Role:

The Investor Relations Associate Analyst is responsible for supporting the team in all accounting, reporting and remittance pertaining to the Investor-Client mortgage portfolios.


The Opportunity:


  • Prepare and reconcile various financial reporting packages in an accurate, timely and consistent fashion for investorclients, relation to collection, arrears, and renewals
  • Complete mortgage eservice fees, tax, and penalty interest reasonability analysis
  • Reconcile remittance to First National cash records and reporting thereof using Merlin and Optimus
  • Prepare and reconcile daily, weekly and monthly investor remittances
  • Monitor cash flow, service fee and tax billing and prepare wire transfer request
  • Prepare monthend reports on Plexus, Merlin and Optimus for investors
  • Perform fundamental and valuation analyses
  • Develop and maintain thirdparty vendor relationships
  • Primary contact person for investor reporting/accounting questions
  • Follow up on loan discrepancies with residential and commercial administration teams
  • Complete special ad hoc projects assigned by management
  • Assist manager in various assigned projects, which will require knowledge of Optimus, Excel, and SQL to continually optimize processes, procedures and other technical initiatives
  • Prepare audit documentation, work with external and internal auditors to explain and resolve any issue
  • Working overtime during the first 5 business days of every month tot meet month end reporting and securitization schedules

Securitizations/Reporting:


  • Responsible for the creation, administration, and reporting of MBS pools for First National and various investors through the CMHC NHA-MBS and CMB programs.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures relating to insurers
  • Work with investors and Treasury to select loans and tranches for new pools
  • Prepare and submit CMHC template documentation and documents (2812, 2830, 2824, 2834, etc) related to creating new issues of mortgagebacked securities and commercial mortgage back securities
  • Resolve issues with loans when pooling, work with CPTA and third party mortgage originators to correct loan data and any other edits
  • Support securitization activities with various reporting and analytic functions
  • Prepare and manage monthly CMHC mortgage securitization reports(2840) for First National and investor pools, ensure reports are uploaded by the third business day and copies are sent to the investors.
  • Reconcile investors cashflows upon mortgages securitization
  • Oversee the preparation, management, reconciliation and execution of month end mortgage and securitization accounting reports
  • Work closely with internal teams to provide talking points and analytics
  • Liaise with investors & FN treasury to compile various securitizations proposals for pooling into NHA MBS program
  • Liaise with mortgage insurers to ensure loans are insured and in compliance with CMHC pooling guidelines
  • Ensure all documents relating to securitization are remitted to CPTA are accurate and on time

The Requirements Needed:


  • Postsecondary education in Business/Economics and/or equivalent work experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of financial services experience
  • Proficient in excel (intermediate to advanced user)
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in tight timeframes
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to interact and build relationships with people across the firm at different levels of seniority
