Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director, Neurodevelopmental Services and demonstrating a commitment to the mission, values, and management philosophy of SSCY, RCC, The FASD Centre and the Child Development Clinic the incumbent is responsible for:

Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary diagnostic healthcare team by assisting with activities related to triaging the waitlists, interpreting social, psychological, emotional, and family challenges to the team; maintaining excellent working relationships with team members, participating in team planning and problem solving and demonstrating leadership within the team.

Providing professional, short term, culturally safe psychosocial interventions that are aimed at assisting clients, families, and groups.

Developing and providing educational materials for families (ie: recording online information sessions) and community partners.

Working with and using the healthcare, social and education systems effectively.


This position is responsible for providing support to families whose preschool children have been referred to the Child Development Clinic with a query of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and youth under 18 years of age referred to the MB FASD Centre for diagnosis.

Participating in professional and research programs, quality improvement initiatives and the advancement of their own professional knowledge and skills.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Social work (BSW)
    Required from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) accredited school/faculty, or the approved equivalent if internationally educated
  • Registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers
  • Minimum of 2 years recent and relevant experience in social work services in a health care setting preferred including working families with children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and clinical experience in the area of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
  • Ability to practice independently and with minimum supervision in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Computer literacy and willingness to work in an EMR environment.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in report writing
  • Effective problemsolving skills, able to prioritize and work within a busy clinic.
  • Understanding of relevant health and social services
  • May be required to have a valid Manitoba driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Pay:
$30.00-$40.00 per hour
