Position Summary:

Responsibilities:

Support Thermal Processing Engineers and Research Scientists with their daytoday tasks.
Characterization and interpretation of samples using various techniques (ex. TGA, SEM, EDS, XRF, etc.).
Assist in the execution of experiments to understand reaction kinetics during calcination of material using various calcination equipment.
Fabricate Liion half cells using cathode active material produced in calcination studies and use Arbin Instruments battery cyclers to collect data for interpretation.
Maintain and calibrate furnaces at both lab and pilot scales.
Assist in commissioning and validation of new calcination equipment.
Assist with kiln modifications dependent on experimental setup and calibration of sensors used in the experimental set up.
Report and communicate issues or unexpected results from calcined materials or calcination equipment.
Communicate findings to other teams through reports and presentations.
Assist with creating new calcination procedures that would be used at various scales.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in materials science, Chemistry, Chemical engineering.
Experience working with hand tools would be preferred.
Experience working with ceramics or high temperature calcination would be an asset.
Experience working with various types of kilns or furnaces would be an asset.
An innovative mindset and an approach to problem solving based in adaptability.
Proficiency in MS office suite would be preferred.
