Position Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Support Thermal Processing Engineers and Research Scientists with their daytoday tasks.
- Characterization and interpretation of samples using various techniques (ex. TGA, SEM, EDS, XRF, etc.).
- Assist in the execution of experiments to understand reaction kinetics during calcination of material using various calcination equipment.
- Fabricate Liion half cells using cathode active material produced in calcination studies and use Arbin Instruments battery cyclers to collect data for interpretation.
- Maintain and calibrate furnaces at both lab and pilot scales.
- Assist in commissioning and validation of new calcination equipment.
- Assist with kiln modifications dependent on experimental setup and calibration of sensors used in the experimental set up.
- Report and communicate issues or unexpected results from calcined materials or calcination equipment.
- Communicate findings to other teams through reports and presentations.
- Assist with creating new calcination procedures that would be used at various scales.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in materials science, Chemistry, Chemical engineering.
- Experience working with hand tools would be preferred.
- Experience working with ceramics or high temperature calcination would be an asset.
- Experience working with various types of kilns or furnaces would be an asset.
- An innovative mindset and an approach to problem solving based in adaptability.
- Proficiency in MS office suite would be preferred.
