Position Summary:

Western Mechanical Electrical Millwright Services Ltd.

is seeking a full-time Truck Dispatcher to coordinate our daily AZ/DZ Trucking Dispatch at our head office in Barrie, Ontario.

Reporting to the Transportation Operations Manager.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Taking customer orders, requests and requirements for machinery and trucks, record and organize the requests, and find efficient solutions for transportation.
  • Dispatching and tracking 25 transport trucks to and from various locations in Canada and the U.S.
  • Transporting customer materials/equipment to various locations specified by the customer.
  • Transporting Western owned equipment including; forklifts, scissor lifts, and various other machinery to and from jobsites.
  • Using geographical knowledge and tools to ensure a high degree of efficiency.
  • The dispatcher will be the main point of contact for all drivers and will be responsible for knowing the location of Western owned equipment and resources at all times.

Required Skills:


  • 2+ years Truck Dispatching experience.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Clear and concise organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organization with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to acquire an understanding and knowledge of the Western fleet, which includes; a wide variety of machinery, trucks, and trailers. Then utilize all assets accordingly and efficiently to satisfy customer requests.
  • Handle changes throughout the day and adjust resources to accommodate ongoing and changing requests.
  • Willingness to work until solutions are found and all requests are met.
  • Proficient knowledge in administration of Office 365, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Teams.

Term, Hours of Work and Compensation:

  • This is a full-time role
  • 44 hours per week
  • 5 days a week, Monday-Friday
  • The role is entitled to vacation pay and paid statutory holidays
