Your Opportunity:


Working within the partnership program (Alberta Health Services, Children's Services, and community agency), the psychologist provides clinical assessments, interventions, and therapy for youth aged 12-20 years residing in this intensive residential treatment program.

Youth have a complex history of mental illness and have current status with Children's services.

Using the frameworks of Attachment, Trauma informed, Collaborative Problem Solving, the psychologist works closely with the partners in the program to promote mental illness recovery, independence, through therapeutic interventions.

Psychological assessment and standardized testing is an integral part of this role.


Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment


Your services may include:
psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as education activities.

You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards.

You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consults/collaborates with teams and community services.

Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program.

Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in psychology (clinical) is required. Completion of all provisional requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

3 years of recent experience in community mental health and/or acute child psychiatric setting. Knowledge and skills in assessment & standardized measures of cognitive, adaptive, behavioral and emotional functioning. Knowledge and experience with treatment interventions (CBT, DBT, ART) and others is essential. Experience with Attachment models, Trauma Informed Care, Collaborative Problem Solving. Experience working with Child & Family Services, Education providers, and other community partners.
