Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain is one of 14 Home and Community Care Support Services organizations in Ontario.

We are dedicated to ensuring our more than 64,000 patients annually receive the highest-quality health care and services at home.

Our patient-care coordination teams help develop care plans for people of most ages, focused on maintaining each patient's independence and dignity.

We also provide long-term care home placement services, and facilitate our patients' access to the community-based services they need.


Position Summary:


Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Engagement at Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain, the Translator-Reviser is a member of Home and Community Care Support Services' provincial Translation Service team.

The Translator-Reviser translates and revises a broad range of content of varying complexities and time-sensitivities for external audiences. To ensure service continuity, the Translator-Reviser also supports the team's Translation Coordinator, when needed.


Primary Responsibilities:

1) Provides translation of English to French and French to English content for Ontario's 14 Home and Community Care Support Services


This includes:

  • Translating new content and
  • Revising content, including from vendorsofrecord.
2) Within established service levels, ensures timely delivery of all translation requests in a fast-paced setting with fluctuating priorities


This includes:

  • Managing individual workload by continuously monitoring, evaluating and readjusting requests, and
  • Ongoing collaboration with Translation Coordinator and Translator-Reviser.
3) Contributes to team's lexicon of official terminology related to Ontario's home and community care services.

4) As needed, acts as Translation Coordinator, which involves processing incoming requests, outsourcing documents to vendors-of-record, negotiating deadlines with requestors and vendors, maintaining memory software (Logiterm), and compiling reports.

5) Participates in special projects and performs other duties, as required.


Education and Experience:

Education & Experience

  • University degree in translation, or meets eligibility criteria for certification by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario.
  • Minimum five years' experience in providing translation and proofreading services is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to fluctuating priorities.
  • Experience translating health care or other specialized terminology is an asset.
Other

  • Advanced computer skills, including in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint)
  • Experience using a memory software is required, experience using Logiterm software is an asset

Knowledge:


  • Exercises judgment and problem solving to manage competing scheduling demands/translation priorities on content of varying complexity.
  • With the goal of providing excellent customer service and highquality translations, demonstrates proactive, solutionbased approach to identifying and escalating any real or potential issues among existing or new processes, procedures, etc., as needed.

Skills and Abilities:


  • Must have strong prioritization skills, be flexible and willing to readjust workload to manage and fulfill competing demands with tight deadlines
  • Strong accountability and responsibility for providing highquality translation that meets organizational needs and priorities.
  • Able to work mostly independently while also fostering team connections and collaboration.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills with a variety of employees, leaders and external contacts.
  • Strong initiative, including selfmotivation
  • Mandatory fluency in French and English; advanced proficiency in oral and written skills

Pay Rate:

Wages are in accordance with the collective agreement between Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain and
OPSEU and starting salaries range from $33.558/hr.

- $37.763/hr


Shift:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm


Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain offers flexible work options, this position will have a hybrid model of work with a combination of work locations, including community and clinical settings, patients' homes, on-site, and remote.

Please note that selection will be in accordance with Article 12.02 of the Collective Agreement (Selection).


Home and Community Care Support Services has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy across the province that requires all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
