About The Role


What You'll Do Here:

As an Optimization Scientist, you will be leading various projects and collaborate with end users, vendors and cross functional teams to:

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvements and standardization resulting in cost savings
  • Identify and implement automated solutions for specific needs
  • Involved in operational laboratory efficiency projects and process improvements by identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to organize meetings and gather user requirements
  • Elaborate recommendations for proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT to validate and execute user acceptance tests for all deliverables
  • Writes SOPs and training guides to ensure proper implementation
  • Train laboratory employees on Watson LIMS and other software
  • Establish project timeline and ensure timely delivery.
  • To conduct all work in compliance with applicable SOPs, GLPs and all applicable regulations.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Based on experience and skills, the following responsibilities could be requested:

  • Work with scientists to adapt and optimize biological assays into automated protocols.
  • Program plate readers, liquid handlers and other automated technologies (plate washers, bulk dispensers, etc.)
  • Provide scientific support for new technologies
  • Diagnose hardware/software issues & devise solutions in close collaboration with scientific personnel and vendors.

What You'll Need to Succeed:


  • BSc, MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least 35 years of relevant CRO or Pharmaceutical experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a GLP/GCP environment.
  • Good organizational skills,.
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Able to function with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Excellent listening and observational skills
  • Excellent presentation (verbal) and written communication skills both in French & English.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Software: MS-Office (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word, Access)
  • Knowledge of Watson LIMS will be considered an asset.
  • Liquid handler programming skills will be considered an asset.
  • Programming skills will be considered an asset (Ex. VB, SQL, HTML, etc.)
  • Experience with Change Management approaches.
