What can I expect to do in this role?:

  • Provide professional, technical and administrative support to the delivery of the Emergency Management and Health & Safety programs.
  • Support the development of policies, procedures and emergency management and Health & Safety programs across the Ministry.
  • Provide support in the progressive evolution of the emergency management and Health & Safety continuity of operations and public safety program.

How do I qualify?:


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations and policies governing emergency response (e.g. Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, Forest Fire Prevention Act, Orderin
  • Council orders).
  • Strategic planning, project management, system design or business improvement skills to support longterm goals of the organization and recognize potential longterm impacts of proposed program policies and processes.
  • Knowledge of issues, trends and theories relating to emergency management and business continuity/continuity of operations.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member or independently with limited supervision, making decisions to determine the type of data/information necessary for assessing a plan, and providing advice and recommendations of planning or policy options.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Analytical and problemsolving skills to plan, organize, conduct assessments, and contribute to the development of corporate and operational emergency protocol.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, emergency response environments supporting the Ministry's response to its OrderinCouncil natural hazard emergency responsibilities (i.e. wildland fire, flood, etc.)

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of manual and computerbased research, data management and file management techniques to provide analytical support.
  • Ability to work remotely, from home using virtual collaboration software such as Microsoft Teams.

Eligibility:


  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
  • Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a diploma or an equivalent degree or postgraduate certificate in a relevant field of study within the last four years;
  • Are not a permanent employee in the Ontario Public Service.
