As a member of the Hospitals Administrative team, the
ADMINISTRATOR ON SITE functions as a member of the hospital administrative team providing exemplary leadership and judgment and representing a key resource with a high level of authority and autonomy to nursing and other hospital staff during nonbusiness hours, to ensure that Hospital goals and objectives are met while creating an environment that supports the Mission, Vision, Philosophy and Values of the Hospital


The principal responsibilities include:

performing administrative leadership responsibilities in support of hospital/nursing operations with emphasis on managing patient flow and hospital capacity; consulting, assigning and directing clinical and non-clinical staff as the AOS deems necessary; ensuring the appropriate delivery of care utilizing theory and evidence based practice as a basis for clinical and administrative system decisions; ensuring effective communication and acting as a consultant to internal/external health care professionals within/outside the Hospital setting and to family/community members; maintaining professional development of self and facilitates professional development of staff; ensuring staff complies with quality improvement programs and other quality initiatives; performing cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree Program in Nursing,(must) Master's preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.)

program, Level II:
Basic Rescuer certification

  • Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Up to five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Three (3) years direct patient care experience
  • Two (2) years progressive administrative experience in a nursing setting
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to organize work and set priorities
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills based upon a broad general knowledge of the Hospital
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Knowledge of professional standards and Quality Assurance guidelines (College of Nurses of Ontario)
  • Knowledge of legislation provision, i.e., Employment Standards Act; Substitutes Decision Act; Social Contract Act; Human Rights legislation, etc., which impact on work performed
  • Knowledge of team dynamics with the ability to work effectively as a team leader and team member
  • Knowledge of relevant collective agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to make appropriate decisions, exercise sound judgment and use considerable initiative
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing education
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively in a constantly changing work environment
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change quickly and effectively
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
  • Critical care experience preferred
  • Membership in a specialty related organization preferred
  • Must be available weekdays to work the evening and night shift
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
