  • As a Business Strategist at Supply Management, you will facilitate strategic and outcomefocused discussions with Supply leadership, business unit teams across The City, external customers, elected officials, and other interested parties to develop and execute on business unit strategies for the Public Value team and the Director's office.

You are a self-motivated individual with advanced strategic and analytical skills who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

You are adept at facilitating conversations and building effective internal and external relationships.

This role is also responsible for gathering qualitative and quantitative research and data to make evidence-based recommendations to the Director and leadership team, and package findings in engaging formats for different audiences.

Strategies developed and implemented by this position must be in adherence to public procurement law, compliance, bylaws, council/corporate direction, Council and Administration policy alignment, public value strategies, business planning, business continuity, risk management, quality management, operational and systems controls, performance measurement, and internal and external Audits


Primary duties include:

  • Create, develop, and execute highprofile strategic initiatives that significantly advance Council and administrative directions of which the business unit is the steward for The Corporation.
  • Research, compile, and analyze service data, trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Package data findings and analysis into dashboards, summaries and/or reports for different audiences, including Senior Administration, Council and Supply leadership.
  • Identify areas of improvement within the business unit by defining and examining processes and designing strategic implementation plans.
  • Develop reports, draft memos, recommendations and presentations to Council, Senior Administration, internal and external partners.
  • Complete reputational and financial risk analysis for various strategies, issues, and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships and partnerships.
  • Participate in businessunit and crosscorporate committees and communitybased initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business, Science, Management, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of related experience with major transformational initiatives, including project management, monitoring and measurement management, strategic planning, policy and program development, interested parties analysis and communication.
  • Experience in qualitative or quantitative research and analysis is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to prepare visual and compelling presentations will be considered an asset.
  • Experience writing memos, briefings and reports to business unit leadership, Senior Management and elected officials will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated connection to Indigenous culture and cultural practices and/or advancement of womenowned businesses will be considered assets.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills are essential as well as the ability to prioritize within tight deadlines, work independently and pay strong attention to detail.
  • Welldeveloped problemsolving skills combined with business and political acumen.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence others and build consensus.
