GFL Environmental is looking for a Lead Equipment Operator to join our recycling team in Chemainus, BC

This role will assist and coordinate the day-to-day field operations to ensure quality service and product line efficiency. Provide leadership to other operators and promote a positive employee/employer relationship.

Key Responsibilities:

Help ensure operators are performing task knowledgeably, productively and safely.
Provide feedback to Operations Supervisor regarding operators productivity, work performance, etc. daily
Assist in resolving any customer concerns and bring to resolution.
Assist in scheduling
Working knowledge of equipment to manage solid waste and/or cover materials. Experience with fibre recycling is preferred.
Operate equipment as necessary.
Communicate equipment/vehicle mechanical problems to supervisor immediately.
Maintain operational quality standards as predetermined by management.

Safety

Follow all safety and equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties.

Requirements:

Ability to operate a skid steer required and/or forklift is ideal.
Ability to operate any type of equipment necessary to perform job.
Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with others.
Possess good organizational skills and an ability to multitask.
Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
