Regina Integrated Intelligence Unit Technician - Regina Police Service
Description
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of the NCO i/c RIIU, assists with supporting police investigations by providing advice and solutions on technical matters related to equipment used for surveillance, tracking, wiretap and recording of criminal activity.
(2) Oversees specialized surveillance equipment including proper storage, control systems, maintenance materials and related supplies.
(3) Researches and evaluates current police technology and purchases equipment for surveillance, tracking, wiretap and recording of criminal activity. Submits reports as required and attends regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
(4) Supports police investigations with the assistance of technology, and works with stakeholders to identify and maintain awareness of criminal issues by anticipating criminal issues by reviewing relevant data. Gathers intelligence, and corroborates information obtained.
(5) Provides training and presentations on intelligence gathering technology and surveillance techniques to other RPS members
(6) Assists with the installation, trouble shooting, and repairing of all devices (Audio/Video) used for police surveillance.
(7) Other related duties as assigned.
Competencies
(1) Degree or Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology, computer Engineering Technology or equivalent from a recognized institute. Minimum one (1) year related work experience in the area of electronics related to commercial, residential and or vehicle. Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
(2) Good interpersonal skills, personal maturity and strong problem solving skills.
(3) Thorough knowledge of the use of state-of-the-art technology to support operational and administrative work of a police organization.
(4) Knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) networking with the ability to program audio and video devices to capture and record evidence using cellular based or IP networks.
(5) Must be able to work in an environment that is professional, discrete and clandestine.
(6) Must be willing to work overtime which could include, days and evenings with some weekends.
(7) Must have a valid driver's license and adhere to a Code of Ethics and strict confidentiality protocols.
(8) Must stay current with investigative practices and attend training and conferences as required.
(9) Must achieve a top security clearance.
