Position Overview:
Responsibilities:
- Assist skilled carpenters and trades with various construction projects.
- Prepare and set up job sites, including laying out materials and tools.
- Secure and inventory materials and equipment at each job site.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Support the overall construction taking place for each project, including, but not limited to, the following examples: floor coverings, framing needs, finished carpentry, concrete finishing, exterior cladding, deck building, window and door installs.
- Operate hand and power tools under the supervision of a journeyman carpenter.
- Assist in measuring and cutting wood, metal, and other materials according to specifications.
- Help install a variety of fixtures such as windows, frames, flooring, and trim.
- Support in assembling and installing structures such as walls and decks.
- Follow all safety regulations and guidelines and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with carpenters and other members of the construction team, including subcontractors and homeowners where work is being performed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and perform manual labor.
- Ability to work independently part time with instruction or as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Must have a reliable means of transportation to various job sites.
- Must have a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and ability to be coached.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Carpenter Labourer an asset recommended but not required.
Working Conditions:
- Work assignments can take place either indoors and/or outdoors, and the employee is expected to be dressed and ready for all possible working environments.
- Physically demanding work environment and repetitive tasks using power tools and a variety of construction equipment.
Compensation:
$19-$21/hour depending on experience overtime paid at 1.5X as per Alberta employment standards.
Pay:
$19.00-$21.00 per hour
