Please note new rates effective April 9, Close Date- 5/3/2023- Job Type- Regular Full Time- Temporary End Date- Ministry/Organization- BC Public Service -> Agriculture and Food- Ministry Branch / Division- Bu- Job SummaryThe Valuations Unit provides the required elements for program delivery including beginning production units, insurable values and premium rates.

The Unit is responsible for ongoing evaluation of budgets, costs, forecasts and reinsurance requirements; key areas of focus are improved data collection and data source expansion for insurable values as well as development of a process for customizing/individualizing beginning production units.


Reporting to the Manager of the Unit, the Valuations Analyst uses strong quantitative skills and knowledge of agricultural crops to provide statistical and analytical support for the effective operation of BRM programs.

The focus is on supporting the calculation, testing and certification of insurable values, production costs, premium rates and beginning production units.


Job Requirements:


  • Registered as a Professional Agrologist with the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists, or immediately eligible for professional registration upon employment with the Ministry. Consideration may be given to applicants who are registered or, immediately eligible for registration, as an Articling Agrologist with the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists in which case the position will be implemented at a lower classification.
  • Degree in a related field such as Agriculture or a related science, Economics, or Business, AND
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • At least two years' experience in the Canadian agriculture sector as an analyst, producer, advisor or product representative.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining cooperative and productive relationships and effectively liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in Valuations.
  • Experience with database queries

This competition is geographically restricted to Kelowna.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
