Since 1936 Columbia College has offered quality educational programs, including a University Transfer Program fully integrated into the BC Transfer System, an associate degree Program certified by the Ministry of Advanced Education, a University Preparatory Program, and a High School Program certified by the Ministry of Education.
The Opportunity:
Columbia College is looking for a Physics Instructor for our High School program, to teach the following courses in the Summer 2023 semester:
Full semester (May-August):
Physics 11 section (12), HYFLEX* - Monday to Friday from 12:20 pm to 14:00 pm
Starting June 13 or earlier:
Physics 12, section (8), HYFLEX* - Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 9:40 am
This sessional position will commence on May 8, 2023, and ends in August 202- HyFlex: This course will seamlessly shift between teaching in person, synchronously online, or asynchronously.
Key Responsibilities:
The instructor's primary responsibilities include planning, teaching, marking, and grading the appointed course/s.
A Master of Science in Physics is preferred, and bachelor's degree in physics is required.
A BC Public or Independent School Teaching Certificate, or in the final process of getting the certification.
Experience teaching High School Physics courses.
Experience utilizing a broad range of effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of your students.
Exceptional classroom management skills/strategies
Strong organizational, communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills
The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents (located outside of the country)
Salary:
The Physics 12 course salary will be adjusted to the effective starting date.
