PLANNER, TRANSPORTATION:


The Capital Planning Branch is looking for a Transportation Planner for a temporary position until March 31, 2028 with the possibility of extension and/or indeterminate status.

The position is classified as an RÉ-05 ($68,641 to $91,072 p.a. under review).

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

The Transportation Planner contributes to urban, regional, environmental and strategic planning work on federal lands, by researching, analyzing and producing a range of planning studies, products and summaries, with a focus on the broad regional context of the National Capital Region, and interprovincial transportation.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION:

A University degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, environmental studies or in another field relevant to the position.


CERTIFICATION:

Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or Quebec OR be a member of a professional planner organization (OPPI, OUQ, CIP), or be eligible to become one.


EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in positions requiring knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

  • Transportation planning in the private and/or public sectors.
  • Analysis of transportation data and trends in an urban environment.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Of the theories and best practices in Transportation Planning.
  • Of the key planning documents developed by NCR (National Capital Region) municipalities on municipal transportation processes.
  • Of municipal plan and project approval procedures.

ABILITIES

  • To communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both official languages.
  • To manage and prioritize various tasks and adjust to changing priorities.
  • To negotiate and contribute to the establishment of constructive outcomes.
