This is a one-year term position with the possibility of an extension.


Applications are invited for a full-time position of Lecturer and Coordinator, Office of Experiential Education (OEE), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC, for an initial term of one year, with the possibility of renewal on an annualized basis.

The desired start date for this position is July 1st, 2023.


The successful applicant will primarily work with and report to the Director, OEE, to coordinate Community Service Learning (CSL) in the Entry-to-Practice PharmD (E2P PharmD) program and the practicum and research experiential courses in the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (BPSc) program; sustain and build placement capacity for experiential education; support students experiencing challenges during OEE courses; and conduct scholarship in experiential education.

Background


Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to the coordination and ongoing refinement of practicum courses within the E2P PharmD and BPSc programs
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the CSL course delivery
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the BPSc experiential courses delivery
  • Explore and develop new opportunities to collaborate with community partners, practice educators and industrial partners
  • Ensure course materials and activities are reflective of current and future pharmacy practice and guidelines and actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Serve as a liaison to experiential sites in matters pertaining to student placements
  • Participate in student learning activities and progress, providing feedback to students and other stakeholders as necessary
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of experiential partner training, development and recognition programs
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement
  • Supervise/cosupervise graduate or undergraduate students for any project or courserelated work
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty, staff and other professionals
  • Increase the profile of the Faculty and OEE within the pharmacy community
  • Pursue scholarship and research activities in experiential education or service learning
  • Perform other related functions as required by the Director, Office of Experiential Education)
