    A temporary part time (0.8) Intermediate/Middle School Teacher is required by School District No. The assignment will be a Buick Creek Elementary School.
    Buick Creek is a rural elementary school in a picturesque small farming community 70 km from Fort St.

    The school has 2 teachers, who work in conjunction with the Key Learning Centre, 3 EAs and an ECE who runs the Strong Start Outreach Program.

    Additional support for ELL, Learning Assistance and administration come from KLC and district itinerants. Buick Creek School has a student population of approximately 28 students. Approximately 25% of the students have English as a second language or dialect. The school has a brand new playground and has access to an indoor skating arena. The parents and community are strong supporters of the school. Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
    Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging
    Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
    Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
    Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning

    A working knowledge of, or be willing to quickly learn, the technology needed to deliver the online portion of an educational program.

    (Zoom Whiteboard, BrightSpace, Google Education, FileMaker, Adobe Acrobat, social media channels.)

    An understanding and commitment to the intermediate/middle school philosophy and willingness to adapt that philosophy to an OL and blended learning environment.

    Knowledge of OL course offerings and procedures would be an asset.
    Aware of BC MoE Intermediate & Middle School Curricula.

    Also, be able to realize the Ministry of Education initiatives dealing with 21st Century and personalized learning in an OL and blended learning environment.

    A willingness to incorporate a variety of online learning strategies aligned with best practice current in the online learning field in their teaching methodologies.

    The ability to set up a learning environment that supports active engagement among learners and between student and educator through asynchronous and synchronous strategies and through project-based learning.

    Open to the idea of team teaching several grades in collaboration with one or more teachers.
    A willingness to develop a social online environment for students to interact and learn within.
    The ability to design a course of study for students on an open learning program or students requiring an IEP/SLP

    The ability to carry out a variety of assessments including classroom and virtual classroom observation, administration and interpretation of norm-referenced tests, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods in an OL environment.

    A commitment to work with parents in the development and evaluation of a child's learning program and progress.
    Ability to use online technology in the instructional process and reporting procedures.
    Previous experience in the use of transformative educational technology would be a compelling asset.
    A working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance-Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, and blended/structured writing process, and the SMART Learning process

    Is willing to learn about and explore new and tried ways of helping students learn effectively and personally in an OL environment.

    2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
