As this overall project and initiative will continue to evolve for our organization, additional areas of activity can/will arise.

The Project Controls Specialist - Energy Transition role is responsible to support the Energy Transition program and to provide analytical services in partnership with project management to ensure proper cost structures, procedures and controls are in place for each project.

In this role, you may support small streams on larger projects or perform more independently on small projects.

Your roles and responsibilities:


  • Accumulates and compiles accurate cost management data on a monthly basis to prepare the project report and update the progress of the project
  • Aid in development of cost control/scheduling procedures, execution plan, and business plan for a project.
  • Provide accurate monthly forecasts on all projects, identifying trends and make recommendations for corrective courses of action.
  • Participates in weekly project cost reviews/schedule meetings.
  • Participates in Project Kickoffs and ongoing status meetings.
  • Participates and engages in monthly reviews with key vendors.
  • In conjunction with Project Management, develop and implement a change management system for engineering and construction
  • Maintains the established project cost/schedule program and provide updates for schedules as required
  • Provides meaningful, accurate historical data and documentation.
  • Aid in development of progress tracking and implementation.

Professional skills

  • Must possess a strong understanding of project delivery phases, activities performed in each phase, and associated deliverables, consistent with the FEL process.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problemsolving skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills including collaboration other teams including engineering, procurement & contracts, construction, safety, quality, finance/accounting, operations and 3rd party vendors/suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic, produces accurate and credible deliverables, meets deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written, including presentations.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and an aptitude for engineering and construction.

Travel

  • Some travel may be required for this role.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a relevant Engineering discipline
  • 5 years relevant experience or equivalent businessrelated work experience
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Software experience in Oracle, IBM cognos analytics, or TM1 is an asset.
  • Software experience in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project is an asset.
