SUMMARY OF THE POSITION


As the Mental Health and Addictions Coordinator (MHAC), your primary responsibility will include providing support coordination, individualized planning, supportive counselling, crisis support and overall assistance to reach recovery goals of individuals who experience mental health and substance use issues.

You will be working as part of a team, and in collaboration with community partners.


HOURS OF WORK
The MHAC will work thirty-five (35) hours per week, with the hours being flexible to the needs of clients. MHAC will participate, on a rotating basis, in the agency's on-call system.





SALARY RANGE:
$ $33.24 per hour

6% pay in lieu of benefits after 3 months


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary degree in human services / human sciences or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience within the community mental health field working with adults recovering from serious mental illness, addiction or supportive housing.
  • Supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability of being a highly effective communicator with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in supporting individuals experiencing acute crisis and where possible taking action that is consistent with the client's crisis plan of action
  • Prioritizing and organizing work is second nature and able to make recommendations
  • Sound knowledge of community resources and the ability to liaise with community agencies, generic services, mental health professionals, specialized health care, recreation and leisure opportunities and vocational programs
  • Ability to advocate and liaise with housing providers, landlords, boarding homes, shelter operations and operators of other housing facilities
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, electronic record keeping and data collection systems as well as OCAN and CRMS
  • Strong assessment skills and demonstrated ability to assess complex situations and make appropriate decisions independently
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and suicide risk assessment preferred
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver's license, relevant insurance and use of a reliable vehicle
  • Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
