Position:
Temporary Part Time Outreach Services Worker (Stopping the violence outreach worker)


Hours: 16 hours per week

Location:
Williams Lake, BC


Wage:
$23.10 per hour, as per the Collective Agreement


Axis Family Resources is currently recruiting
Temporary Part Time
Stopping the Violence Outreach Worker for program that offers service in public education initiatives, assisting women with referrals, providing group and one-to-one supportive counselling, and developing and maintaining working relationships with other service providers in order to assess and make efforts to address to fill gaps in service for this target population.

Provides support, education and advocacy support to women who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing abuse or threat of abuse/ violence.


Qualifications & Requirements:


  • A diploma in social/ human services, or the equivalent education and experience is required for this position.
  • At least one year's relevant work experience (see bullets in Job Skills and Abilities) is required for this position.
  • Direct program delivery experience in the social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of communitybased programs and related provincial and community support services is preferred
  • A class 5 drivers' license and safe driving record abstract
  • Current Level 1 First Aid (including CPR) Certification (must be completed within 3 months of hire)
  • Approved Criminal Record Check

Skills & Abilities:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices in the area of domestic violence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation and public presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and problemsolving skills.
Ability to function independently and as a team member.

  • Crisis management skills.

Additional Information:


  • This position requires the ability to work in a stressful environment, often dealing with persons served in crisis situations.
  • Work may be conducted outside regular office hours. Managing emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position.
  • Direct delivery of program activities may require a moderate level of physical fitness.
  • Must be flexible and have a high level of motivation to effectively work within program.
  • Must demonstrate ability to address personal issues that may potentially affect job responsibilities
