What you'll do:


The People Operations Specialist assists with various HR functions and performs a diverse range of HR tasks supporting the administrative, operational and people facing functions of People Operations.

The People Operations Specialists operate as a shared service supporting all HR Leaders and HR Business Partners.

In addition, this position will support business lines by being the first point of contact for employee inquiries on HR related questions, programs and policies and will play a supportive coaching role.


How you'll make an impact:


  • Provide support to HR Business Partners on various HR functions, including but not limited to, performance management, recruitment/onboarding and compensation in a timely manner.
  • Be the first point of contact to Canadian and US based employees, provide exceptional support and assistance to meet with employees, answer HR related questions and document employees issues.
  • Provide HR support to People Leaders as required, meet with them to discuss various challenges and provide basic coaching such as managing difficult conversations, escalating to the HR Business Partners as needed.
  • Participate in various employment processes, including preparing, reviewing and sending employment documentation, such as position change letters, employment contracts, performance improvement plans and individual development plans.
  • Provide support to HRBPs during the sensitive process of terminations and job eliminations while ensuring the approach and package are in line with applicable legislation.
  • Facilitate and prepare relocation, professional development requests and engagement toolkit requests.
  • Assist People Leaders in the job description process and provide feedback to ensure that the job description accurately reflects the needs of the team and the organization, including specific duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide HRBPs with an overview of trends and observations gathered from exit interviews. Summarize and share data as necessary to enhance the employee experience.
  • Assist HR Business Partners in performance management reviews, investigations, and employee relations challenges.
  • Assist in People Operations process development and process improvement, looking for efficiencies and suggestions for improvement. Provide updates and suggestions for content for the Canadian/ Global HR guides (Handbooks) and Internal HR Wiki, as needed.
  • Work with the HR data teams to develop DayForce reports and assist in the monitoring of employee processes, serving as reporting SMEs.
  • Maintain indepth knowledge of legislative requirements related to daytoday management of employees, reducing legal risks to ensure compliance.
  • Participate actively in various HR programs, projects and initiatives, including being a main participant for development and implementation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Geotab policies on Google sharing rights to confidential HR/employee information.

What you'll bring to this role:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources in a high growth technology organisation.
  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Human Resources or a related field. CHRP or CHRL or equivalent is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of general HR policies and procedures, employment relations and labour laws.
  • Ability to work on a broad set of Human Resources functions.
  • Demonstrable evidence of HR expertise and thought leadership.
  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization, knowledge of the hightechnology industry an asset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • A strong teamplayer with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
