Sovereign is looking for a dynamic Underwriting Specialist to join our National Resource Practice Team, who is adept at analyzing risks, providing creative solutions, driven to achieve great results and prides themselves on giving exceptional customer service.

How you will create impact:


  • Promoting, underwriting and quoting of new business, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Negotiating coverage and rates and participating in underwriting audits.
  • Developing and maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with brokers.
  • Developing a teamoriented approach to meeting corporate and department goals and objectives; including written premium and profitability objectives.
  • Providing guidance, training and mentoring to less experienced staff.

To join our team:


  • You have 710 years of Commercial Underwriting experience.
  • You have experience in Oil & Gas, Mining and Power Property or Boiler underwriting.
  • You have the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • You have strong analytical skills with an understanding of specific metrics to support effective portfolio management analysis.
  • You have proven project and change management skills with the ability to deliver on deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

What you need to know:


  • Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
  • You will provide support to clients who are experiencing a personal or financial loss. A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
