Job Description:


Under the direction of the Director, Institutional Research, the Manager, Institutional Research and Analytics is responsible for leading the development of business intelligence projects and new initiatives, ERP system implementation, and integration of analytics within the Institutional Research Department that support evidenced-based decision-making throughout the College.

These projects and initiatives will assist Deans, Directors, Chairs, Coordinators, and Senior Management with decisions related to program and unit reviews, program development, institutional performance, market intelligence, data governance, and strategic enrolment management.

The Manager takes the lead role in ensuring the College's databases are maintained such that the College provides accurate data for reporting purposes.

As well, the Manager takes a lead role in all government compliance reporting at the College, either conducting or delegating submissions to appropriate personnel.

The Manager also conducts complex research studies for the Institutional Research Department utilizing the College's student information systems. The Manager ensures information and analysis is published to the College community and stakeholders.


Qualifications:


Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in Data Analytics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or other relevant field. Relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimally six (6) years' of progressively senior level experience in analytics and data management, preferably in a postsecondary or related research public sector environment.
  • Experience with student information systems such as Banner or Colleague is required.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems implementation and data migration is required.
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is required.
  • Experience in managing institutional data warehouse is required.
  • Experience in Provincial Central Data Warehouse (CDW) submissions and in managing the BC Student Outcomes projects is preferred.
  • Experience in relational database, data warehousing, and proficiency in querying databases in an Oracle environment using such tools as SQL, MS Access, and Oracle Discoverer.
  • Experience with labour market data sources (e.g. Stats Canada, BC Stats, EMSI, etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheet, statistical, and research software such as SPSS and business intelligence software such as Tableau.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with limited direct supervision.
  • Able to establish priorities in a changing or ambiguous environment, modify work plans effectively, and work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to establish and meet deadlines. Experience in project, administrative, and change management.
  • Highly selfmotivated and directed.
  • Exercise sound judgement on issues of a sensitive, confidential, or contentious nature.
  • Commitment to a respectful, teamorientated collaborative work environment. Must be able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.

Salary Range:
$ $67.53 per hour


Pay Grade:

Compensation beyond the mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employers' Council Secretariat (PSEC).
