    Job Description

    The community of Kamsack is seeking a temporary 3 month locum physician to join the team at the Assiniboine Valley Medical Centre starting in February 2024. As part of the five physician group working in the clinic, the successful candidate will provide primary health care services, including Opioid Agonist Therapy and harm reduction services, and 24 hour emergency services to the community of Kamsack and surrounding communities, resort areas, and First Nations in the Health Network.

    One locum over the course of the three months would be preferred but blocks of time will be considered.

    Regular clinic hours are from 09:00 - 17:30 Monday - Friday. In addition to clinic, physicians are required to participate in the on-call rota for the hospital, community and long-term care facility.

    Rural physician locum remuneration:

    Daily Rate : $1400 - $1540 per 24 hour day. 4 step grid dependent on experience.

    Emergency Call : In addition to daily rates- Rural Emergency Room Coverage Program (ERCP) stipend as per the program terms

    Accommodations : Provided.

    Mileage : $0.51/km for 1 return trip per locum assignment.

    Travel Time: $20/hour for 1 return trip per locum assignment.

    Job Qualifications

  • Full or provisional licensure with the
  • Completion of a methadone and/or buprenorphine/naloxone workshop/course and mentoring requirements as required and recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSS) would be an asset
  • Membership with the
  • Acceptable references/ criminal records check
  • ACLS certificate
  • In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada
