- Evaluate clients to identify physical strengths and dysfunction and to determine movement potential
- Determine functional goals for patient based on problems identified
- Formulate treatment plan and continually reassess effectiveness
- Document in accordance with the standards of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and in compliance with The Royal documentation standards.
- Responsible for supervision the following staff assigned to the Geriatric program:Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant; Students; and Volunteers
- Familiar with PHIPA Act
- Responsible for establishing and conducting educational programs for hospital staff, clients, and families
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and discipline specific committees (. Falls prevention Committee, Safe Patient Handling)
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
- Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal's Respectful Workplace policy. Qualifications:
- Masters and/or Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
- Physiotherapy experience, preferably in Geriatrics.
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
- Sound understanding of the effects of physical aging and disease, dementia and responsive behaviours as well as an understanding of areas of vulnerability for this population.
- Bilingual (French/English) is mandatory.English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. French level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension and expression. Salary Range: 40.36 to 56.30 per hour
