Program Overview - Workforce Development, Community Programs
This position reports to the Supervisor, Workforce Development - Experienced Workers.

The incumbent is one of two Workshop Facilitators who support WoodGreen's one-year federal government contract "Enabling Employment and Broad Adoption of Skills for Success for Experienced Workers".

The Workshop Facilitator delivers cohort-based in-person and remote training and activities to prepare racialized persons aged 45+ for employment opportunities in specific sectors, roles and occupations.


This position works within the Community Programs Unit to contribute to the learning opportunities provided to a variety of clients to improve their digital literacy, soft skills, occupational-specific hard skills, employability skills and financial literacy in order to improve their employment and financial outcomes.

The incumbent also is a resource and contributor to the design, development, coordination, implementation, administration and support of training activities specific to the Workforce Development Team and within the Community Programs Unit at WoodGreen.


What You Will Do

  • Deliver high quality and effective training and group activities in a variety of formats including classroom, webbased, online and video.
  • Learn and master the delivery of WoodGreen's new Skills for Success for Experienced Jobseekers curriculum, with courses in the skills areas of digital, collaboration, adaptability, creativity and innovation, communication and problem solving tied to the Government of Canada's new Skills for Success model.
  • Provide group and oneonone support to clients in the areas of preemployment including goal setting, resume preparation, interviewing and job search.
  • Manage client interaction and support positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with employment counsellors, other staff supervisor and manager as needed to ensure client success.
  • Enter data and prepared reports concerning client attendance, participation, assignments, and assessments in CRM system and/or other data repositories.
  • Help Training and Evaluation staff research and develop new courses, materials and programs, as needed.
  • Duplicate and transport course materials (e.g. workbooks, evaluation forms, sign in sheet, handouts) to classrooms, as needed for inclass sessions.
  • Travel to different WoodGreen locations occasionally as needed and/or work for extended periods of time at one location, if needed (e.g. for 2 weeks at one location while training classes are in progress).
  • Set up/tear down training room tables, chairs, computers, other equipment and materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information related to the organization, units, programs, staff, and clients, which the duties of the position provide access to.
  • Proactively stay up to date with knowledge relevant to job by learning online and by participating in training seminars, conferences, and trade shows as directed by Manager to upgrade skills to fulfill the responsibilities of the position on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure antiracism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions, staff and unit meetings.
  • Carry out additional duties as identified from time to time by the Manager of Workforce Development.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Education, Psychology, or Human Resources.
  • Education and/or training in the areas of adult learning
  • Experience delivering training to adult learners.
  • Significant lived experience, preferably in multiple occupations and work settings, that can be shared to inspire and teach clients successful life strategies and resilience.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, ideally job seekers with multiple barriers
