New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people's hopes and dreams in their communities.


Supported Cluster Housing (SCH) is one of the many services offered by New Directions. SCH provides independent living supports to adults who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues. The services are provided through an intensive housing model that provides a supportive setting for individuals that grapple with multiple barriers to independent living. This model places priority on preparing individuals to live autonomous lives by providing a place of safety and wrap-around support. Additional resources include access to food and nutrition, social and emotional connection, physical and mental health support, external system navigation, medication support, and timely access to staff that can assist with problem solving and attending to concerns as they arise.


We are currently looking for a Community Resource Worker to join our Cluster Unit team and assist where the need exists.

This role is predominantly Monday to Friday 4pm-11pm. The schedule is set - however the incumbent may be transferred to various locations within the program.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing meaningful, caring, and respectful relationships with children and youth
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries and setting limits with children and youth
  • Providing care to children and youth in a community and residential setting
  • Willing and able to travel from one location to another within the city of Winnipeg, with little notice
  • Participating in programming to meet the individual goals of children and youth
  • Participating in various recreational and physical activities with children and youth
  • Cooking, house cleaning, yard work and other household maintenance duties

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Due to the nature of this position, a valid driver's license, and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • 2 years of directly related education and/or experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health issues, anxiety, selfinjurious behaviour/suicidal ideation, FASD, behavioural problems and emotional difficulties is considered an asset
  • A demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions
  • Effective selfcare strategies and ability to remain professional in stressful situations
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with access to a safe, reliable vehicle for work purposes
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) considered an asset
  • A health care background, First Aid /C.P.R., and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NCI) certification are considered assets.
  • The salary range for this 70 hour biweekly position is $17.11 to $23.10 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. This oneyear term position is eligible for a full benefits package which includes Health and Dental Benefits, and Long Term Disability Benefits.
