About the opportunity:


The Regional Environment, Health & Safety ("EHS") Business partner will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the region in charge establishing strong working relationships with site leadership teams, key regional stakeholders and employees in order to foster an EHS culture of excellence.

The regional EHS business partner supports and facilitates the implementation of environment, health and safety programs designed to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements and ensures the business keeps in front of leading practices in health, safety, and environment.


The attributes we are looking for:

  • Develop and Improve Lactalis Canada EHS programs in line with Lactalis standards and local regulation and provide site teams with practical implementation support.
  • Support EHS and loss prevention Program implementation through risk assessment, training, providing tools and templates.
  • Support safety leadership development and act as a coach on the behavior-based program.
  • Facilitate forums within the region to share best practices and learn from incidents.
  • Conduct regular site visits to support different initiates in collaboration with leaders, nominated site resources and EHS coordinators/advisors.
  • Oversee the incident investigation process and facilitate the investigation, root cause analysis and the development of effective action plans for selected incidents as needed and act as a coach for leaders on process.
  • Advise on CAPEX projects and conduct reviews to ensure EHS aspects are integrated to the scope of work.
  • Review and follow up with site leadership to ensure corporate programs are implemented and action plans are executed.
  • Prepare and conduct periodic occupational health and safety sites audits and ensure that all corrective actions are executed.
  • Prepare EHS performance reports, present to site and regional leadership teams and provide recommendations.
  • Prepare specific training plans to be implemented at the sites. Maintain and update safety training requirements and develop training materials that can be shared across site locations.

What you will bring:

Education & Experience

  • University or college diploma in occupational health and safety or related field.
  • Five(5) to Seven(7) years of experience in industrial health and safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Sound knowledge on environmental, health and safety management (ISO 14001 and OHSAS
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent teamwork, Communication, Interpersonal and influencing Skills able to work with leadership teams at different sites and other stakeholders across Canada to achieve project goals.
  • Good knowledge of the major risks such as machine safety, lockout/tagout, confined space, powered industrial trucks, work at Height, chemical management, and ergonomics.
  • Training in incident investigation and root cause is an asset.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, theory and case law on safety and the Association of Canadian Standards (CSA). Updated knowledge of changes and innovations in health and safety.
  • Strong Analytical Thinker collect, understand, and interpret information in order to make recommendations for improving policies or procedures.
  • Technological Skills strong working knowledge of systems such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Time Management Skills ability to balance and prioritize numerous deadlines with excellent organizational skills.
  • Attention to Detail ability to maintain the integrity of the data but ensuring its accuracy and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Presentation Skills
- comfortable and effective in delivering group presentations and training to various stakeholders.

  • Results oriented, able to work as part of a functional team and independently.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
