Job Description:
The Health Promotion and Education Coordinator reports to the Manager of Health Services.
The incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of wellness education and promotion programming for Algonquin College students and communicating the services of Health Services to the student population.
The incumbent designs, schedules, and implements a wide variety of health promotion events, activities and displays on campus.The incumbent leads a group of student assistants for health promotion and liaises with other residence staff, college staff, and other agencies to come on campus for health promotion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Remains current with health and wellness literature to ensure relevant, timely and evidenceinformed programming;
- Plans, coordinates, and delivers health and wellness events and activities;
- Collects and reports stats;
- Collaborates and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to support student health and wellness issues;
- Participates on the Mental Health Steering Committee;
- Responsible for the inventory management and allocation of promotional material;
- Coordinates a team of students (Health Promoters) which includes assisting with recruitment, providing training, scheduling work, overseeing work, support and student leadership development.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a two (2) year diploma or equivalent in a health care related field;
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience;
- Current knowledge of a variety of health promotion topics is required;
- Experience with event planning is an asset;
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills is an asset;
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.);
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills is required;
- Able to effectively organize and prioritize work demands, competently manage projects and facilitate meetings;
- Experience working in a postsecondary environment is an asset;
- Understanding the health care needs of a diverse postsecondary student population.
Anticipated Weekly Schedule:
- Flexible and will be determined upon hire.
- This position is paid at payband 10.
