    Supervisor, Meter Lab Services

    Position Purpose:

    The Supervisor, Metering Services, directs staff in carrying out day-to-day operation of meter certification and sealing work in accordance with the quality assurance program and other compliance requirements. The Supervisor also supports compliance and audit activities to ensure that metering assets remain compliant to regulatory requirements.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    • Direct and oversee staff in the execution of all Meter Lab work activities and ensure tasks are completed on time, efficiently and effectively.
    • Plan and oversee Alectra Utilities' Reverification and Seal Extension Programs, including creating and tracking sample groups, coordinating associated logistics, and analyzing and presenting data.
    • Ensure work is completed in accordance with the quality assurance program and other compliance requirements from Measurement Canada, IESO and OEB.
    • Act as the Alectra representative with Measurement Canada to maintain S-A-01 Accreditation to Perform Inspections as well as lead associated audits.
    • Support Service Level Agreements for work performed for affiliate companies.
    • Support reporting requirements by tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) of team outputs.
    • Support the budget, corporate goals, regulatory requirements, performance improvement initiatives, and risk assessments.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and standards, and support internal safety programs.
    • Manage meter inventory life cycles including procurement, acceptance testing, arrange general logistics and meter inventory activities.
    • Lead meter lab and related initiatives, implement policies, procedures, and processes to improve operational effectiveness, participate in department and corporate projects and key initiatives.
    • Resolve escalated external inquiries and Measurement Canada customer disputes, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues. Foster relationships with other departments, external customers, and industry associations to improve performance and customer service.
    • Apply, and propagate corporate policies and Collective Agreement, resolve labour relations conflicts, disputes, and grievances.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

    Education & Specialized Knowledge

    • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), University Degree in related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Knowledge of regulatory and governmental requirements including Measurement Canada, IESO, OEB, ESA regulation legislation, codes rules and regulations
    • In depth knowledge of OHSA, E&USA rule book and associated safety regulations
    • Strong understanding of electrical metering systems, principles and practices, electrical distribution systems, safety standards and protection codes
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years experience in a metering role an asset
    • Experience in a supervisory role an asset
    • Experience in a unionized utility environment an asset

    Skills/Abilities/Competencies

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with staff, leadership teams, and external customers
    • Strong leadership ability of trade staff to achieve objectives through strong planning, organization, initiative and sound judgement/
    • Ability to solve complex problems, oversee multiple tasks, manage rapid changes in priorities and resources, manage projects and meet deadlines.
    • Strong conflict resolution skills, ability to build and foster relationships based on trust, integrity and respect
    • Experience in performing statistical analysis, developing and maintaining a Quality Management System and supporting internal and external audits
