  • Reporting to the Director, the Lead is responsible for the effective management of the designated portfolio area. Responsibilities include liaising with key external and internal partners, including the BC Health Authorities (HAs), ministry partners and external partners pertaining to the program area. The Lead will have a variety of responsibilities related to budget, coordination, tracking, documentation, communications, project support, change management and other business functions for the program area. The Lead develops and maintains effective working relationships, facilitates consensus to conclude the process and negotiates with others both internally and externally, and liaises with ministry representatives, laboratory service partners and other interested parties as required to perform duties for PLMS from a business perspective. The Lead models joint decisionmaking and alignment in goals and objectives, and ensures the provision of an interprofessional work environment and care through the maintenance of working relationships and liaison with MoH, medical, laboratory, administrative and other regional and provincial leadership positions, empowering team thinking and innovation and creating and promoting an environment that is focused on evidencebased improvements to laboratory services.
    What you'll do
  • Act as a key liaison to areas of PLMS and internal and external partners, facilitating information and activities across Health Authorities, ministry representatives, business partners and other interested parties.
  • Ensure the implementation of assigned strategic priorities and coordinates operational planning and implementation for PLMS in conjunction with the executive leaders.
  • Collaborate with provincial partners to support provincial laboratory services.
  • Ensure consistent and aligned messaging by leadership.
  • Manage and monitor provincial projects and initiatives of varying complexity within the portfolio and provincial program to support strategic laboratory services transformation priorities.
  • Synthesize, compose, produce and maintain a variety of documents including correspondence, information/briefing notes, and newsletters.
  • Prepare, report, dashboard, briefing documents and presentations for various partners as required.
  • Coordinate and attend regular confidential senior management, Governance meetings, and vendor meetings.
  • Prepare planning and reporting related materials and documents in an accurate and timely manner. Takes minutes, sets agendas, tracks updates and followsup on deliverables and timelines.

What you bring

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an accredited University degree in a healthcare related field, preferably in Laboratory education, plus a minimum of seven to ten years recent related clinical experience that includes five (5) years working in a managerial/leadership capacity within clinical laboratory services or equivalent is preferred.
  • Eligibility for CSMLS certification is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the BC health care system is required.

  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
