    Work Requirement

    This role will be based out of our Vancouver location and is full time onsite.

    Key Responsibiliies

  • Oversees all aspects of designing, planning, coordinating, and analyzing in vivo immuno-oncology efficacy and PK/PD experiments in collaboration with project team members.
  • Manages studies with both internal counterparts and external contract research organizations.
  • Supports animal research associates with the handling of mice (awake and/or under gaseous anesthetic, or after euthanasia), including subcutaneous, intraperitoneal and intravenous injections, tumor measurements, blood and tissue collection, and health monitoring.
  • Performs mouse study-related administrative tasks including regulatory documentation and protocol updates.
  • Organizes and performs the pharmacodynamic evaluation of immune cell function using flow cytometry, histology and MSD assays.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies, develops new in vivo models, and establishes standard protocols and best practices.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and scientific/technical guidance to junior staff.
  • Summarizes and presents results to supervisor in a logical manner, verbally and in written reports or presentations. Must present data to project team meetings.
  • Analyzes data using software including Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo and authors electronic lab notebook entries suitable for IND enabling documentation.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with scientific standards, Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) and OH&S regulations and established policies and practices.
  • Actively works to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships amongst employees, management, and external partners.
  • Education and Experience

  • PhD in immunology, pharmacology, cancer biology, or a related scientific discipline with a minimum of 3 years experience working with rodents or a BSc and minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in running xenograft, syngeneic, or humanized mouse tumor models (PBMC and/or CD34). Understanding of immune cell function in treatment and disease is required.
  • Proficient in animal handling, dosing (SC, IP, IV) and collection of blood and tumor samples. Ability to consistently perform tail vein injections is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of in vivo cancer models, therapeutic mechanisms of actions, relationship of PK to therapeutic activity; demonstrated experience with antibody-based therapeutics is an asset.
  • Experience with immune cell isolation and flow cytometry
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multifaceted studies in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines within projected budgets.
  • Experience working with contract research organizations for designing, coordinating, and carrying out large scale in vivo studies and summarizing findings to project teams.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional scientific project team.

    The Canadian base salary range for this full time position is $86, - $, + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

    The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a variety of factors and the salary offered may vary depending on the successful candidate's location and qualifications (including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, education, training, skills, and experience).
