Manufacturing Design Standards Specialist


Code Electric is a manufacturer of Enclosures, EV Charger kiosks, Cable Tray, Electrical Distribution Products, Commercial Metal Planters, and Custom Sheet Metal since 1979.

We are growing our product offerings and looking to add a
Design Standards Specialist to our team to assist in overseeing design standards, CSA files, R&D and QC program.

To excel in this role, you have extensive design experience and a strong knowledge of CAD software, along with exceptional communication skills and a design mindset that can guide a team to produce high-quality results.

Experience and Knowledge:


  • Degree / Diploma or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Design
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong commitment to delivering highquality work, while meeting deadlines.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to guide and support a rapidly growing team.
  • High level of proficiency in oral and written communication in the English language is required.
  • Production mindset to design and looks for improvements that will increase efficiency.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks designing 3D models, PDM Administrator and Driveworks
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with CSA Standards and certification processes.
  • Electrical design layout an asset, but not required
  • Understanding electrical distribution systems, particularly as they relate to enclosure design is an asset.

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Implement and administer SolidWorks PDM professional / Vault
  • Review and create new design standards and improvements to current designs.
  • Build off current systems to develop a modern, formal Quality Control program.
  • Ensure QC standards are met throughout the design and production staff.
  • Work with production when issues arise to solve quality issues and revise standards
  • Identify, resolve, and document product issues for design standard improvements
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation and manuals, ensuring compliance with standards
  • Liaison between production and CAD to ensure proper design intent is communicated
  • Actively participate in problem solving to overcome challenges
  • Coordinate with external engineers and consultants when appropriate
  • R&D Design of new products and continual improvement and innovation of existing products
  • Host team meetings to share and implement new standards
  • Work with team to develop customer facing literature to promote new products.
  • Attend quarterly CSA inspections and work to expand CSA offerings.
  • Provide technical support internally to design and sales on CSA capabilities.

Pay:
$75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
