Your Opportunity


Under the limited supervision of the Dean, Arts and Foundational Programs or a designate, the Recruitment & Events Assistant provides exceptional client service to applicants, prospective and current students, and other stakeholders on a variety of recruitment related initiatives and events related to the Adult Basic Education & English as a Second Language Programs Integrated Pathways Project.

Working with faculty, administrators, recruitment committees and other stakeholders, the Assistant coordinates and administers a variety of recruitment related initiatives and events and other duties required in the Integrated Pathways Project (IPP).


Functions and Duties

CLIENT

SERVICE

  • Interacts with clients either by telephone, electronically or face-to-face 3. Handles and resolves client feedback in a sensitive and timely manner and directs requests and unresolved issues to designated resources- 4. Makes appropriate referrals to the internal college community, external partners, and agencies for matters requiring next level of intervention
    RECRUITMENT
  • Promotes Okanagan College IPP programs within and outside of the College region 7. Participates in the development and implementation of short
- and long-term strategic recruitment plans with the Associate Registrar, Regional Dean and other key stakeholders- 8. Organizes and implements recruitment activities and events on and off campus- 9. Conducts presentations and workshops to a range of audiences on campus and in the community- 10. Coordinates promotional materials and events with other Okanagan College recruiters and employees- 11. Collaborates with the Student Information office to build communication campaigns targeting prospective students, applicants and students- 12. Maintains knowledge of current trends and issues in student recruitment and higher education including activities related to social media and other technologies- 13. Identifies potential recruitment activities and advises the Associate Registrar and the Regional Dean on their viability- 14. Analyzes and compiles data and assists in creating recruitment related reports with the Regional Dean, the Associate Registrar and other key stakeholders.

ADMISSIONS

  • Advises prospective students, applicants and current students on general entrance requirements and admission processes including review of senior secondary transcripts to assess admissibility as relevant to IPP programs 17. Provides detailed admissions and registration information including relevant policies to prospective students, applicants and current students- 18. Provides prospective students with information on career and employment trends and makes appropriate referrals to Education Advisors and online resources- 19. Provides 'on location' admission services to secondary school students and confirms conditional admission into Okanagan College's IPP programs 21. Provides support to applicants through the admission process

  • Develops, coordinates and participates in recruitment, campus and community events- 23. Creates and coordinates volunteer schedules in collaboration with others- 24. Coordinates and trains volunteers and employees for recruitment, campus and community events- 25. Solicits donations and sponsorship for recruitment events, conferences and workshops- 26. Participates on committees, as required by the Regional Dean

  • Ensures traditional and digital promotional materials are accurate and up-to-date and recommends updates to the Associate Registrar, Enrolment Services- 28. Supervises student employees- 29. Maintains current knowledge of web and digital technology and trends- 30. Performs other duties as required
    Education and Experience
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and graduation from a fouryear degree program in marketing, business, public relations, or related discipline.
  • Over two years and up to four years related experience in event organization and marketing with experience in postsecondary student recruitment, program promotion, public speaking and presentations to large groups.
  • Experience in web and digital recruitment and presenting virtually is preferred.
  • Experience working with the local communities including working with local partners, agencies, and schools is desired. This includes conducting presentations and workshops, organizing activities and events, and executing short
- and long-term strategic plans.
