Reporting to the Manager, Institutional Asset Management ("Manager"), the Analyst, Institutional Asset Management ("Analyst") supports transforming Sheridan's approach to managing its physical assets.

In collaboration with asset stakeholders, the Analyst will support the development of an asset management framework to ensure a consistent and transparent approach to determining capital investment priorities across the various asset areas including buildings, infrastructure, equipment and technology.

The role will support a proactive, partnership approach to effectively managing assets, recommending priorities and aligning investments with the goals of Sheridan's Strategic Plan.

The Analyst assists in the preparation of the 5-year capital budget, assists with longer term financial forecasts and supports alignment with Activities Based Budgeting (ABB).

The Analyst also supports the development of asset management programs across the institution and works collectively with team members to establish service levels and analyze data to ensure sound decision making.

What You'll be Doing

Responsible for developing decision frameworks, business processes and tools that incorporate capital and operating budget development, prioritization, risk analysis, levels of service and life cycle costing;
Contributing to the development, implementation and review of asset management best practices; collaborating with asset managing business units across the institution;
Supporting a cross-departmental asset management team to implement asset management plans and programs;
Supporting the development of asset management policies, strategies, plans and processes along with an organizational framework for oversight of the institutional Asset Management Program and implementation process;
Supporting the establishment of measures and targets for service levels and performance for the institution's assets;
Analyzing, interpreting and providing advice to other departments on best practices;
Supporting the development of a 'center of excellence' for Institutional Asset Management;
Supporting Facilities teams to develop the Facilities Asset Management Plan;
Documenting current and target asset management processes, including gathering information and input from stakeholders;
Supporting the development of an asset data management strategy and developing processes to collect and maintain asset condition information; supporting the administration of the asset inventory;
Supporting the development of budgets and operating within allocated resources;
Preparing and presenting analysis related to asset management and capital budgeting to internal stakeholders;
Conducting detailed analysis and forecasting on asset deterioration, risk, and levels of service;
Conducting financial analysis that includes, but is not limited to the development of replacement and intervention costs, short and long range reinvestment forecasts, lifecycle analysis, and economic analysis;
Development of tools and spreadsheet models for the simulation and analysis of complex condition and investment scenarios;
Supporting the development of a robust, transparent and defensible capital investment plan by linking level of service targets, asset performance and risk assessment;
Providing support to the departmental capital budgeting process;
Preparing and leading presentations on asset management initiatives to internal and external stakeholder groups and management;
Developing and preparing a variety of written documents, including technical reports, work plans, business cases, and terms of reference;
Facilitating and leading workshops and meetings with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
Building and maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers, other staff and students using principles of good customer service;
Setting a positive tone for transformation and fostering a collaborative, change oriented culture;
Performing other related duties, as assigned.
