Yard Attendant - Job Description
Reports To
General Manager
Summary
The Yard Attendant is responsible for all completing all necessary yard work, including loading and unloading all customer pickups and returns; communicating relevant information to the front counter; operating equipment to move, load, unload, and store product and inventory; and other duties as assigned.
This role will be responsible for handling customers who require service in the yard, including assisting with loading/unloading, directing customers to various yard and inventory areas, providing information on equipment operation, and other tasks as assigned.
Job Duties
- Complete customer pickups and customer returns in full, including loading and unloading equipment and inventory, logging necessary information, coordinating with the front counter staff, and all other associated tasks.
- Assist delivery drivers with locating, loading, and unloading equipment.
- Assess returned equipment and gather important information, reporting this information to the front counter. This includes assessing damage, reading fuel and hour measurements, confirming serial numbers, and gathering other relevant details.
- Interact with customers in a friendly, professional fashion.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment as necessary.
- Operate equipment to facilitate delivery, pickup, movement, and storage of equipment and material. This includes operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, skidsteer loaders, and other pieces of rental equipment.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Identify, communicate, and address all safety issues or concerns encountered while working.
- Adhere to policies and procedures.
- Load and unload products in a safe manner, using provided tools as appropriate (e.g. dollies, lifts, etc.)
- Communicate effectively with the customers and coworkers both verbally and in written form.
- Clean and organize work areas as necessary.
- Provide feedback to supervisor regarding issues or concerns.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and equipment to allow for basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Strong ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
- High level of personal integrity.
- Strong work ethic.
- Professional demeanor under stressful situations.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be selfdirected.
Working Conditions
- Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.
- Weekend work may be required.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- CSAapproved steeltoe boots required.
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Pay:
$18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
