Christ the King Parish is seeking the ideal individual to fill the role of Lay Pastoral Associate to help create and support a community of missionary disciples in line with our parish vision of _Come Encounter Christ, Joyfully Share His Love, and Go Make Disciples.

Reporting to the Pastor, the Lay Pastoral Associate is a key leadership position within the parish and is responsible for the administrative management of the parish's pastoral mission.

Key areas of responsibility would include supporting the Pastor and his leadership team in the implementation of the Parish's vision and mission; relieving the pastor of administrative functions and duties that compete with his priestly ministry; coordinating all branches of the parish to ensure a harmonious and collaborative approach centered on the parish vision and rooted in prayer; leading, managing, and holding accountable the parish staff team; providing leadership training for staff and volunteers and fostering a supportive team-based approach to parish ministry; leading change management initiatives, supporting leadership development initiatives, and the management of staff and administrative operations within the parish.

This position requires a broad set of competencies and a depth of knowledge and understanding of parish administration and the Catholic Faith.


  • Businessrelated degree, diploma or certificate or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Recent leadership experience in a management position;
  • Effective organizational and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and change management;
  • Solid understanding of business administration, and policy development and administration;
  • Can problem solve and multitask to handle a wide range of duties and personalities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity that will gain trust and respect of staff, parishioners, and community members;
  • An active spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, a commitment to personal prayer, and active participation in a church community;
  • A depth of knowledge of the Catholic faith and a knowledge of pastoral responsibilities within a parish. Proficiency in the French language would be considered an asset;
  • Operational knowledge of catholic parishes and churches would be an asset.


This role is required to consent to Criminal Background Check, Vulnerable Sector Check and to sign the Responsible Ministry Protocols of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.
