This role is for EllisDon Industrial (an EllisDon Company).

You as a Civil Superintendent will:

  • Participate in hiring and assigning of key project supervision and field teams as requested by the Project and or Construction Manager, as well as personnel transfers.
  • Support the mobilization, job site setup, job site logistics, field coordination needs and project schedule.
  • Provide practical constructability input during the preconstruction phase for assigned projects, including schedule and logistics development.
  • Plan, schedule, direct crews within the budget and timeline assigned.
  • Help develop and review the construction schedule with the project teams and participate in updates and project meetings.
  • Assess the quality of subcontractors performing work and support the project team with coordination of subtrades.
  • Support Project Managers and/or Construction Managers in resolution of issues and disputes involving the client.
  • Ensure the implementation of, and adherence to, PME's HS&E Program to create a safe work environment on the jobsite, including record keeping requirements. While working with the Safety Advisors as required to ensure the work is performed safely.
  • Provide leadership and training to General Foreman, Foreman, and other field staff while promoting safe work behaviours and working to maximize productivity.
  • Help establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships with the Project Manager, clients, consultants, authorities, and project team(s).

Is this the right role for you?

  • A minimum of 10+ years civil construction experience is required with a minimum of 5 years experience in a Superintendent role.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS09) Certificate, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance Level II, and Leadership for Safety Excellence
  • Provide oversight and mentorship of field teams (laborer's and equipment operators), including any disciplinary actions.
  • Monitor and provide oversight of the field teams with respect to planning, scheduling, quality assurance, environmental protection, safety, and logístical functions as required, while ensuring the project progresses on schedule and budget. This includes resolution to field issues.
  • Direct the use the Lessons Learned program, such that the field teams implement what benefits the project.
  • Conduct and/or attend supervision meetings, preconstruction kick off meetings and project staff meetings.
  • Uphold teamwork and open communications between Field and Project Management teams, ensuring proper flow of information, authority, and decisions.
  • Walk, climb stairs, sit, stand, endure various seasonal outdoor temperatures, speak, and hear at normal levels.
  • Strong communication skills
