- Class 2 Driver's License with Air Brake endorsement
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
- Personality and aptitude for working with students
- Diagnose problems, repair and perform general maintenance of all buses, equipment and vehicles including adjustment of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and clutches on gas and diesel equipment; tune up engines, ignitions parts, clean and adjust carburetors; perform minor body repair; respond to breakdowns.
- Perform preventative maintenance and make inspections of buses for proper working order and safe operation.
- Order, stock and inventory parts and supplies as needed.
- Maintain and keep current an inventory and accountability of parts, tools, supplies and equipment.
- Use department funds in an economically responsible manner.
- Directs, advises or assists other employees as appropriate.
- Ensure shop organization, cleanliness and safety.
- Make recommendations on equipment replacement.
- Drive any bus route that may be required as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
- Automotive or Heavy‑Duty Mechanic Certification
- Commercial Transport Mechanic Certification
- Commercial Inspection Certification
- High school diploma
- Work Hazardous Materials Information Certification (WHIMIS)
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification
- Minimum of one year related experience at the journeyman level.
- Physical capability to perform the job duties.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Valid B.C. Class 2 driver's license with an Air Brake Endorsement.
- Possess good computer skills.
