Job Summary

  • Primarily responsible for the technical aspects of projects and project management responsibilities as required
  • Develop controls designs; specifying hardware and components
  • Support creation of Electrical Drawings as needed
  • Develop PLC and HMI programs from provided templates and structures
  • Set up VFD's and Servo systems
  • Assist with field wiring components
  • Commission and debug machines at client sites
  • Troubleshooting electrical/mechanical and fluid power systems
  • Develop and verify systems; understanding safety risk assessments
  • Manage client relationship and project scope under direction of Management Team
  • Responsible for reporting on a regular basis to Management and/or Project Managers
  • Actively participate in training and career development

Required Experience and Skills

  • Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or Robotics & Automation or relevant experience
  • Familiarity with robot programming (Motoman/Yaskawa, Fanuc, ABB)
  • Familiarity with Ladder Logic (PLC programming)
  • Experience with field wiring, onsite commissioning, and startup
  • Proven ability to read Electrical Schematics and drawings
  • Introductory knowledge of setting up industrial networks, defining topology, assign addresses and troubleshooting of networking issues (TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, IO-Link, EtherCat, etc.)
  • Proven ability to work safely in an industrial environment
  • General troubleshooting experience and problem isolation
  • Exhibits a positive attitude
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both clients and team members
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Have reliable and dependable transportation for local travel
  • Hold and maintain a valid G license and valid passport
  • Ability to travel within North America (~25% travel)

Optional Experience and Skills

  • Experience in the Controls and Automation industry is an asset
  • Experience Programming PLCs and HMIs (Rockwell, Omron) is an asset
  • Understanding of project workflow including; design/process/programming reviews, FAT, SAT, final documentation and closing out projects is an asset
  • Setup and usage of peripheral systems, vision systems, sensors, servo and pneumatics is an asset
  • 3D CAD (Solidworks)
  • Electrical design experience (Solidworks Electrical, EPLAN, AutoCAD)
  • Database integration (SQL, Oracle, ODBC connections, etc.)
  • Exposure to various automation processes (automotive, food and beverage, agricultural, mining, pharmaceutical, etc.)

Salary:
$65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
