Celebrating our 8th year in Summer Camp operations, Rooks to Cooks is GTA's leading culinary school for children.

We recognize that learning new skills, especially cooking, can be intimidating; that's why we build our programs to be fun, inviting, as well as intensive.

Our programs and services always emphasize themes of healthy eating and teach our students how to live a fulfilling healthy life.

Our mission is to empower our students to become more independent and self-sufficient while helping them to find their voice and build self-confidence through learning how to cook/bake.


Ramping up our efforts to ensure our campers have a memorable summer, we are currently recruiting Lead Chef Instructors, the managers, and leaders of our summer campsites.

These are full-time positions working 40 hours per week (occasional overtime may be required) for the duration of the summer, from the beginning of July to the end of August, with some sites starting the last week of June.

Reporting to our program director Chef Donna, the Lead Chef is an integral part of the team, responsible for managing their onsite staff of four, delivering our innovative curriculum, and ensuring all campers have a fun, safe, and educational summer A full list of the responsibilities is below;


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manager of designated location; effectively manage team and campers
  • Designated brand ambassador for R2C.
  • Create positive relationships with parent/clients and facility staff (site administrators and other space users, etc.)
  • Build and maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment for campers and staff
  • Define and reinforce camp rules and expectations
  • Teaches the majority of cooking demonstrations in a fun, interactive and enthusiastic manner; deliver large and small group instruction
  • Execute daily lessons in a timely and organized manner as prescribed in the head office summer curriculum
  • Build authentic relationships with campers and their families
  • Respond and react professionally to all incidents regarding campers
  • Ensure campers are well fed and kept hydrated throughout day
  • Supervise and support campers to ensure their safety and accurate execution of the recipes on hand
  • Execute FIFO in your kitchen facility and maintain fridge, freezer and pantry organization
  • Enforce and execute cleanliness standards as prescribed by head office
  • Designated team member to communicate with head office through whatsapp
  • Lead and manage campers and staff during Friday night Pop up restaurant
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Skills:


  • 6+ years of experience working in the culinary industry
  • 3+ years management experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with children in a professional setting
  • 2 + years of experience teaching in a professional setting
  • Culinary certificate or its equivalent is an asset
  • Teaching degree or its equivalent is an asset
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about teaching children how to cook
  • Organized, detailoriented and punctual
  • Proactive, reliable and safety conscious
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outgoing and comfortable conversing with others
  • Great sense of humour

Required qualifications:


  • Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR certification
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • 1 full day of onlocation training during our first week of camp at select locations
